Captains’ & Crew Information
In addition to the services on offer in both the Port of Hartlepool and Hartlepool Marina, Captains’ and crews will be able to take advantage of supplies, bunkering, telephone and laundry services.
Crew Facilities
Facilities for the sole use of crews will be provided in and around The Tall Ships Site in several locations. These will include toilets, showers and changing rooms. A centre for crews will be provided at Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience which is situated in Hartlepool Marina. The Crew Centre will include an information centre, refreshments, relaxing atmosphere and most importantly information technology – computers with email and internet access. The centre will provide the opportunity for hundreds of trainees to meet, relax and socialise together. In addition, there will be a variety of cultural and sporting activities within The Tall Ships Site and other areas within the town for the crew to enjoy.
Liaison Officers
Each vessel will be assigned at least one Liaison Officer to meet them on arrival, assist with arrangements and provide local knowledge to crews. All Captains will be provided with a detailed manual and crews will be provided with a handbook.
Functions for Captains’ and Crew
The Captains’ Dinner will take place on Saturday 7th August at the Borough Hall on Hartlepool’s historic Headland, where all Captains’ plus guest will enjoy great food and a fantastic atmosphere.
The Crew Party will take place on Sunday 8th August, again at the Borough Hall on Hartlepool’s historic Headland, all crew members will be able to take advantage of a buzzing atmosphere, fantastic food/drink and great entertainment.
Ships Visits
Captains will be encouraged to invite members of the public on board their ships to demonstrate the value of sail training for the development of skills and character in young people.
Corporate hospitality and day sail needs will be identified and ships’ agents informed of all relevant opportunities.

Our history, previous organisational experience and innate understanding of all things seafaring makes it easier for us to run Maritime Festivals and other nautical events than many other destinations. We have watched and learnt from attending previous Host Ports Race events and this gives us confidence that we will deliver a fantastic event for you in 2010.
The vessels themselves can be on the high sea within minutes of leaving Hartlepool and this will bring many advantages to your ship in terms of corporate hospitality, operational efficiency and safety. All vessels will be clustered close together with a connecting entertainment village that will service the every need of you and your crew |
